I know, el cheapo. Well I built a budget system for a friend and now I suspect that this Crucial "powered by ATI" 7500 video card took a crap right out of the gate. I'm gonna try tech support in the a.m. but thought I'd check with you guys to see if I'm missing something. The card seems to work fine as I load Win XP Home and gets into the "loading devices" part when the video signal just disappears. Black screen, no response from keyboard so I shut it down and restart. The OS load continues and then the signal dies again at the same part of the OS load. I have reseated the card, checked for ample power and thoroughly checked all applicable areas of the BIOS but still no results. This is my first venture with an ATI card in a long time and I'm wondering if I should have stuck with "powered by Nvidia" instead. Any ideas folks? Thanks.

The Crucial tech rep says he's seen this problem before. He says the ATI drivers on XP are old and I need to load the OS with a different (Nvidia?) card, then go into safe mode to remove that and install the ATI card & drivers. He says there's nothing wrong with the card. hmmmmmm.....?
