Grand Nagus
3/12 UPDATE: Free shipping ends today!

free FedEx International Priority 1 shipping for a savings of
US$15 off Crucial's regular rates. If you've been putting
off ordering your memory upgrade, you need to order soon to
take advantage of free shipping!"

2/25 UPDATE: Several AnandTechers including myself have not received their eBates credit. So I have edited the thread title accordingly. Since eBates credits take up to 1 month to receive you can still order through eBates, either way you have nothing to lose. 256MB RAM was $90.94 but has dropped another $1.70 down to $89.24

This is a continuation of neonitto's thread Crucial drops $15! $90.94 for 256MB CAS2

Follow these steps:
1) Are you a member of eBates.com? If yes then proceed to step 2. If no then signup for free. Remember to make your username and password something you can remember and/or write it down.
2) Go here http://www.crucial.com/webpromo/ click the blue Go! button, no organization name is needed.
3) Find your RAM and add it to your cart, consider buying 2 256MB's for $172.79 since the prices are so rock bottom low.

$90.94 256MB PC133 SDRAM CAS2
or
$90.94 256MB PC133 SDRAM CAS3

4) Open a new web browser window and go here
https://www.ebates.com/mall.jsp?category_id=8&merchant_id=2851
5) You should see the eBates ad banner at at the top with the Crucial.com web site below. Click shopping cart, your RAM (which already reflects the 15% off WebPromo discount) should be there waiting for you. Click Secure Checkout and conclude your purchase.

If you have purchased Crucial.com RAM within the past 14 days and the price is now lower you might be able to get it adjusted by contacting Crucial.com's Expert Online, but you may get a bunch of bs. Read some posts in the first thread to get an idea of what to type. Most people seem to have good luck with being honest and sincere, others threaten to return the RAM only to make a new order which is a huge inconvenience not to mention waste of time and money for all parties involved.

Make sure that your COOKIES ARE ENABLED and to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS and you should have no problems.

Here's how my order went through:
$90.94 256MB PC133 CAS2 SDRAM
$90.94 256MB PC133 CAS2 SDRAM
-5% eBates.com
-free shipping
======================================
$172.79 for 512MB PC133 SDRAM

Added (after eBates) to the thread title

The deal is still alive and well, I just placed an order for $90.94 + $6.82 tax. Webpromo still work. Thanks anyway.

The reason some people are seeing it for 96 instead of 90 is because they are logging in with their accounts that they setup. When logging in, they verify that you are NOT eligible for the 15% off and are given the standard 10%. So, after clicking on the secure checkout button, do NOT sign in as a member. Choose the not a member option. If you signed in as a member, go clear those tasty cookies (give them to oscar the grouch in the trash can) and repeat process except do NOT sign in as a member.

Hope this clears some confusion.

This information is offered only to clear any existing confusion, not for people that are ineligible for the deal to get the additional 5% off.

That looks like great ram.Now that some of you have received it has anyone been able to run it at 150fsb cas2 or higher?
Toro🙂

Rossman: Where do you get the $86.39 price, it is $90.94. If you are including the "Ebate" in your price, you probably ought to note this in your post or the title. Otherwise someone may go ballistic on you (like when people don't note in a thread title that a MIR is part of a deal).

JD:

You keep posting those old links to stories about Micron. Those are 2 months old, their situation is somewhat different now, as I noted before, sales right now are fairly strong (per their conference with analysts). Just look at their stock price if you need proof - up over $5 per share yesterday ...

Thanks for the great recap, RossMan. They are very serious about selling their ram. I actually saw on TV this morning what looked like a well-made national Crucial commercial that showed their webpage and someone selecting ram and then later a woman popping it in her computer. Very unusual and surprising to see.

Midnight Rambler - Yes it's $86.39 after eBates and I edited the thread title to include that, thanks for the suggestion.

Sesopedalian - You're welcome, I only hope that people don't sit on the fence to long on this one. Because you never know when the WebPromo 15% off will be killed, or RAM prices may gradually begin climbing up, eBates 5% could be lowered to 3% or 2% or even free shipping could expire at any time.

w00t! I ordered my RAM late 2/13 and received my shipping confirmation 2/14 afternoon. Wow that's fast and it should be here today or tomorrow ...

Hey, Great Deal!! A month ago, I paid a similar amount for 128mb of Mushkin ram.
Thanks!

***************************************************
Geeez, has it been that long ago that I paid $200 for a 4mb stick for my 386dx40? yeah, I guess it has 🙁

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless you are overclocking you wouldn't notice any difference in performance between the CAS2 and CAS3, right?

Cwand: you are wrong. CAS2 ram can move data 1 clock cycle faster than CAS3. This may not mean much to most, but to any tweaker this is a huge gain. My best guess is that performance will increase 10-20% with CAS2.

cwand

RAM's latency does not only increase your speed if you overclock, the CAS timings are 2 cycles instead of 3, essentially allowing your RAM to process instructions more quickly. I notice several differences, especially in program loading (even more so on bootup) at cas2.

Rossman, WHy the hell did you start a new thread?

eBates -- do you guys get what this is about? You know it is illegal for a retailer (in this case our RAM seller) to use your sale information against their "privacy policy" -- but there are ways around that. eBates is one around it ! They give kickbacks to the "rebate places" that DO NOT HAVE TO PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY if you read their terms.

So, for 5% you are giving away all your payment/address/whatever information. Yes, there are ways around it, but I just don't like to do business that way.

I get all the way to the point where I put my credit card number and it is still at 96 dollars (only 10% discount) I have never bought from crucial... I did not sign in as a user, and i also cleared my cookies to be thorough... any ideas?

Rossman, WHy the hell did you start a new thread?

Perhaps because the original thread had over 180 posts and that takes forever to load on a 56k modem? 😀

nope, this doesn't work. Since ebates.com is an affiliate of Crucial they are only allowed to link to www.crucial.com and NOT the webpromo page. The webpromo page clears out all affiliate cookies. So this means that you will get the 15% off but no credit through ebates.com, sorry.

odd, when i search for my motherboard, ASUS P3B-F, the best memoery it has is 128MB PC133 cas 2 and 256MB PC100 cas 2.

Does anyone know whether or not my MB supports 256MB PC133...why is it not in the list if it is supported?

Man... you peeps gotta read more thoroughly. You can get the ebates 5% AND the 15% promo. Follow the directions. You basically open both pages up, add the ram from the 15% promo... then go back to the ebates window and complete the order...

And even though I'm on a T1, having to click page 4 (50 posts per page) after opening the thread is a pain... I'm a lazy SOB, so thanks Rossman for starting another thread...

Rossman: do you not have your forum settings to allow PAGES? So what if a thread is 180... agreed that beyond 500 posts it becomes a problem... but 200 post threads... just jump to the last page. Am I missing something obvious?

AmitPatel -

I came across the same issue you've described re the P3B-F listings with a different MB that indicated 128 PC133 CL2 was "ok" and 256 PC100 CL2 was "ok"...but not listed was 256 PC133 CL2. I was turned over to a tech-expert and chatted online with "Michael" regarding the issue, and he said "it's a glitch" in the tables...that the 256 PC133 CL2 would be compatibile with the MB in question. I suspect the same response would apply to the P3B-F (and many other MBs in the tables).
