Crucial 256MB DDR PC2100 RAM Question

How many banks does it have? I was waiting for the Abit KG-7, but it only supports 4 banks of unregistered RAM or 8 banks of Registered.

If the Crucial uses 2 banks, then there is no need for the 4 slots on the Abit KG7 because 2 will always just sit there useless.

Well I am looking at mine right now, (which I will put in the KG7 too, I have 2 chips) and on one side it has 8 chips and on the other side it has 8 chips so I guess it has 16 chips total...what does this mean? I though the banks was where you plugged the ram into the board.

Crap... that means you can only have 2 256 meg Chips in the Board... (unregistered that is) A bank is a side of RAM. If the ram has chips on both sides (16 or so chips) it is double banked... The KG7 supports only 4 banks of DDR Unregistered RAM.

That's correct. The KG7 is subject to the same limitation of all the other 761 based mobo's. That's why so many only have two slots. If you are going to fill more than 2 slots, you need registered DDR, and they all have to be registered, not just the second pair. It's not too big of a deal though since it's really not much more expensive..just a few dollars more if I remember right.
