CRT was smoking

I came home today and my 7 yr old CRT was smoking and stinking bad.

Circuitry short????

Sounds like it. If you pull off the housing (and I suggest you DON'T) you'd probably find the PCB is fried. I'd start looking into a new monitor or LCD.

looks like im the only one here who hasnt seen it. but, i dont know what is worse, having to imagine what is there or actually knowing what is there. i dont think my mind is sick enugh to imagine correctly, so ill stay away from it.

^Good call. That guy really should have listened to the warning lol. I am editing that post to prevent further damage. As for the actual reason its smoking, its either a short circuit or some of the cathode ray tubes have burnt out.
