CRT Monitors and radiation.

How would a 5 year old NEC 17inch monitor compare to a new NEC FE950+ 19inch monitor in terms of radiation? Would the 19inch have less or equal radiation as the 17?

Without taking the units to a test lab and measuring them it is impossible to say. Even new monitors of the same make and model vary widely in RF emissions. If you are concerned about radiated emissions you should read this link

heh, don't they have certifications and stuff? in the manuals they tell u which tests they passed😛 not sure how important that is though😛 i wonder if cheapo brands irradiate u more😛

Check what approvals they have.

A TCO (one of the European certifications) approval means that the RF emissions are essentially undetectable at the time of certification.

No CRT made within the last 15-20 years emits any X-Rays - the tubes are heavily shielded. They're made of leaded glass which is why they're so heavy.

Get a monitor that is TCO99 certified if you are worried about that. Of course spending a day out in the sun will probably give you 100 times the radiation I would imagine.
