I saw an ad for an IBM 21" monitor that had DVI as well as VGA inputs. I didn't even know this was possible, did they put a DAC inside of it, or what?

Was it a 21" IBM P260? I have one and it has both a DVI and a VGA input that I can switch between via a handy toggle in the front of the monitor. IIRC, it had something to do with the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D. Someone else can probably explain it further.

Heh, I forgot I posted this. ;)

Anybody know if this monitor will work with a standard DVI port on a Radeon 9700?

It's probably DVI-A spec. I was looking at an NEC 1355x yesterday that has the exact same ports on the back. But NEC/Mistubishi calls it DVI-A. From what I was told over @ ars forums. It's still considered Analog and the Image quality is the same or can be even worst than 15pin. What is the point of the DVI port on the CRT? I have no idea, still trying to figure it out.

There's probably no advantage to it anyway since a CRT is analog anyway... you're lose more if you have to switch from digital to analog.

I dont know much about it, but i dont know that DVI-I has both Digital connection and Analog connection in the same cable. Where DVD-D only has a Digital connection. and there are a few pin differences and a DVD-I Cable will not work in a DVD-D connection... but DVD-I Will work with just about anything. I know this is a little off topic but any one know where i can get a thin DVI cable????? I have one but it is really thick???
