Once in a while my monitor (Mitsu 2070SB) will go fuzzy for a little while. It's hard to describe. It's like a wavy fuzzy look that is most noticeable on text. Like it's breaking up.

I'm at work atm, so I'm waiting to see whether or not this fantastic computer is gonna let me watch your vid... Whoops, thats a no go :(. Well, I have a similar issue with my CRT, but I think mine is just a focusing/convergence issue. Text at the edge of the screen is crisp, but the further you go toward the center, the more blured text becomes. Red text is the worst. It's not as noticable at 1024x768, so thats what I run (yes, you guys can feel bad for me now :( ). I just put up with it because its an older CRT anyway and I'm upgrading soon enough.

If your question is whether or not it's fixable, I would say no. Not easily anyway, as it would probably require opening the monitor/replacing a few parts. Sounds like a monitor hardware issue, nothing on the PC side. But, I'm no expert. Maybe someone with a little more experience can offer some advice.

Yeah it doesn't seem like anything fixable :(.

It's not really a blurring, it's still sharp but it's just like breaking apart like theres interference. Really annoying. There is something wrong inside the monitor I suppose :(. Just wondering if there was anything obviously wrong or easily fixable. Thanks for the reply.

You need divx for the video

since you have a good quality crt monitor, i would suggest looking into a local monitor repair place. my 19in sony G420 had vertical lines across the whole screen, and got it fixed for $75 at my local repair store. he said that the brightness adjustment inside the monitor was too high. now my 4 year old monitor looks just as if i bought it 4 years ago. im happy.

Try shaking the monitor slightly from side to side. I saw the same problem on a bad unit and doing this fixed it at least temporarily.

It's not a ViewSonic Graphics Series monitor by chance is it? A G810 perhaps? We have a number of G810s at work, and all of them have fuzzy picture problems. We have pretty much all switched to the Professional Series monitors now, which have a much crisper image. I'm now wary of all ViewSonic Graphics Series monitors.

No, its a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB.

Tilting it from side to side seems to temporarily fix the problem... it comes back soon after, though.

Seems like your shadowmask has been loosened from the front of the tube. This can happen if it has been hit hard (dropped, hit, etc.). It also generally happens with age of monitor. There are no way to repair such a fault, the monitor needs to be replaced.

Well there is no shadow mask, its an aperture grille. there could be something wrong with the stabilizing wires. maybe a cable is coming loose insside or something.
