CRT monitor changes vertical size

I bought a MAG 778PF-s CRT monitor a few weeks ago. No LCD for me, im too cheap. Often when I turn on the computer or bring the monitor back from standby I have to adjust the vertical size. THere is a happy medium, but sometimes it comes back too big, so I shrink it, but the next time I come back I have to enlarge it. Its just a pain.

I have dual monitors, this is my primary. My secondary monitor is just fine. They are both at same resolution, frequency, etc.

Any ideas?

That's your monitor's tubes warming up, it tends to happen on new monitors a lot. It should stop happening after the first 2 months or so, in my experience.

It looks like the vertical amplifier is going out and not holding a consistent output.. If that is what is happeneing then it would be just as cheap to buy a new CRT monitor as it would be to repair, unless you know somebody that can work on it for you @ a reasonable good ol boy rate: Beer and Parts.

The only Tube he has in the monitor is the CRT itself, they haven't used vacuum tubes in monitors since I can barely remember. This should not be happening ESP on a new monitor.

After you adjust the size, is there an option to save the setting?

The monitor I am currently using can save the settings for 16 different frequencies. They are referred to as Users.

Edit: just checked and it was 16 settings not 10

My settings themselves arent changing. To get my picture to the edge of the screen the vertical setting needs to be at etiher 59% or 63% depending on the monitors mood.
