I finally got my new Windows XP system together with a nice LCD monitor, I salvaged
all the reuseable hardware. The problem is what to do with the CRT monitor:confused:
This Pixie CRT monitor came with the system I purchased in '97.

Are there any places that offer trade-in programs from CRT monitors similar to the ones that are offered for air conditioners??

Ive tried: "Gateway" you have to be buying a computer,
"COMPUSA" dont,
"HP.com" cost of shipping monitor to them is alot more than they pay

I would appreciate all help possible.

Dual-monitor rig. If your vidcard doesn't have a secondary output, find a cheap PCI video card from '98 and up, stick it in, and run dual-display.

Dual monitors? Even if it's not great quality, it definitly could be useful still if you need multiple documents open to read from, etc.

great way to use a spare monitor...surf the net and watch a dvd at the same time.

What video card do you have? You might be able to do it already.

You may laugh, but I am using an s3trio64+ as my secondary card for my dual monitor setup. My main video card isn't much better, as it's a tnt2m64, but the setup works fine, since the rest of the system is decent.

My new graphics card is a Radeon 9500 PRO. I can set up a dual display, but the CRT monitor bothers my eyes with or w/o those antiglare fliters.

It also has been starting to flicker on bootup.

If anyone is interested Im located in "old" West Troy, NY

You could probably even write it off at it's orginal cost. Goodwill and IRS don't care either way.;)
