Hey
I have an IBM P275 CRT monitor. It has a DVI input that im currently using with a VGA to DVI cable. If i got a DVI cable, could I use the DVI out on the video card? It seems like it would work, and that should yield a better image, correct?

Thanks
jason

yes then its all digital to

DVI seems to make a differance with LCD's (seems crisper) but I never had a CRT that had DVI so im not sure if there is a big improvement but in theory it should look better.

Uh CRT's use an analog signal to produce the picture, it would have to convert it from analog to digital inside the monitor, what would be thew point of a digital hook up for a CRT?

I'd venture to say - because some high end buisness graphics cards only have DVI outs. We have several of that sort at work. The monitor probably does convert the signal and removes the necessity of one of those annoying converters.

The shorter you make the analog section of the data path, the better your picture is going to be, even though it still gets converted into analog in the end.

Side note: I hooked up my Planar LCD to both my Radeon 7500's VGA and DVI outputs simultaneously and toggled between them. You can definitely tell the difference between analog and full DVI on an LCD.

wow..
I think im going to pick up a DVI cable...
I run it at 1600x1200 and sometimes higher so a better image would be nice..
