Hi,

I would like to make CF 6850 but I am not sure for my processor... Will it cause "significant" bottleneck ??

If it is so, I will go with GTX560. Can I get good perf from GTX 560 with E8500 ??

System;

Asus Rampage Formula X48
İntel E8500 3.16ghz (3.8 oc)
Corsair Dominator 2x2GB 1066mhz
W.D. Balck 1TB 7200rpm
Corsair TX650W
Asus 23" led LCD 1920x1080
BFG GTX260_OCXE (192 core)

Hımmm...

But i have no way to go with better CPU. Because my Mot.Brd only support LGA775 and E8500 is the latest duo-core and LGA775 quads (Q9*** and q8***) don't exist around here(also too expensive).

So which card is best for my CPU ?? It is sure not even GTX560, then what???

Bottlenecks are highly game dependent. E.g., Starcraft 2 is notoriously CPU-bottlenecked because it can't utilize more than 2 cores. But a game at high enough resolution and with all settings maxed, will easily be GPU bottlenecked rather than CPU bottlenecked, albeit perhaps at such a level (e.g., less than 24 fps) that it might as well be bottlenecked on both. A single 6850 will not be CPU bottlenecked in most games even at stock speeds, imho. That other dude I don't think knows how fast a E8500@3.8 really is, or else he's playing a lot of Starcraft 2 or something. Many games still can't take advantage of more than 2 cores. Sad but true.

It shouldn't be too bad depending on the came. You'll definitely notice a performance increase in games that aren't completely CPU bound like Shogun 2 and SC2 to name a couple.

I would really keep an eye out for a quad core. Surely they can't cost more than a pair of 6870's.

Some games will run ok with your current CPU, but the majority of newer games (ie: BF3 and such) REALLY want four cores.

I guess the question is, what games do you plan on playing?

I am playing total war series, yes... Shogun 2 and next games i will definetaly play. But also Dirt and NFS, RPG like Vskrym and Starwars...

I cant change my system right now. May be 2 years later...I know i cant get perfect result with this CPU, I am just looking for an improvement for ~2 years...

So which card is best for my CPU ?? It is sure not even GTX560, then what??? I am lookin better fps for GPU based games. If only one 6870 is top for me(close to 6850CF) then i will go with it... But if CF make really difference than single 6870 i will get CF...

The max I'd get for your setup is a 6870.
