CROWN MOLDING: I WISH TO A TORCHEROUS[sic] AND A JSUT PAIFUL DEATH

CROWNMOLDING IS JUST EVIL.

We had to do it all day today and I absolutely hate it. Everyone's houses these days are jsut so sh!tty that all the ones are out of whack which makes putting CM a pain like you wouldn't beleive....

What size crown molding were you working with? I have a lot of experience with it, and there are times where I encounter walls so bad that I either have to shave down the drywall (for paint grade jobs) or float the wall out with shims so I can make a good corner with the crown, and then go back and seal the gaps with some caulking. I feel your pain man! I hope you aren't doing the angle cuts with a miter box.. a good chopsaw REALLY speeds up even a ****** crown molding situation.

we have a great aw....dewalt 718 miter double bevel😀


the key was that it was really large 5 1/4 (can't remember...pretty tired right now) and the walls were all wavy.


that said, this was a DREAM comrped to anotehr jobsite we are at where the house is like a gajillion years old and even the floors are off by like many degrees....


just imagine setting your tools down annd wathign them rolll away:laugh:


edit: wprst of all, onme of the homeowners was home and was giving us guff because she wasn't familar with the process so she thought it looked awful....


I hate when that happens...it is so demeaning...

HAHA... my dad owns a cabinet shop, and he always gets complaints from customers when he can't line things up right on account of the house being all out of whack. I mean there's only so much that scribes and caulking and shims can do. Customers ask him why his cabinets are crooked.. He looks back and says, "the cabinets are square, you're house is crooked." He once installed a lot of cabinetry in the Capitol Records building (which is round like a cylinder if you've not seen it before). Yup.. he had to put cabinets against a curved wall. That was fun.
