CrossOver Mac Pro 7 - great for MS Office

Just upgraded to Crossover Pro 7. I mainly use Office XP in VMware...Crossover 7 is WAY faster and is Mac-ized (like the window borders are Mac-style). I like it a lot better than the older version I had. If you just need some simple Windows apps, this could be a good way to go. Also probably nice for web development (IE6, etc.). List of compatible apps here:

Just to be pedantic, it's "Crossover Mac" not "Crossover Pro". 😉

Yea.. no support for IE7 yet. Although IE6 does work pretty well for one of the sites that I need to use. However, I still need IE7 for actual web testing. They say they're working on it, though, so this'll definitely be a possibility in the future. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they figure it out.

Also with Unity mode in VMware, I barely notice that I have Windows open. It's great. 🙂 If only my memory wasn't being consumed in the process.. haha!

lol when I click an Office document on my Mac desktop, Office XP in Crossover launches about 40 seconds faster than Office 2004 and about 20 seconds faster than Office 2008

I took a look at the website, it turns out that OneNote is nowhere to be found. That's such a shame...

A quick question related to this.. how the hell do you update office w/in crossover?

I initially found it nice and fast, but now, it seems to take forever to load.. just as slow or a little worse than office 2008 natively 🙁

You would need to manually run the full patch against the bottle you have Office installed in.

I tried to do that w/o any success. That sorta sucks for patches between service packs, blast.

I installed Office 2007 on my Crossover install yesterday. It looks great, but I have some problems with Crossover.

Window refreshes are horrible. Moving the window or scrollin results in a huge amount of lag. Secondly, no drag and drop from OS X in to Word. I tried numerous times, even hovered over the Word window for a few seconds, but nothing. Had to go to the menu bar and manually insert and image that way.

Since I was almost done with the work in that file, I finished it in 2007, but then did the rest of my documents in 2008 for the day.
