Crossover cable

I just built a new desktop and want to dump all the stuff from my laptop to it.

Possibly a stupid question...
How do I connect the two via a crossover (patch) cable? I didn't find anything in the Networking Wizzard about it.

Am I forgetting something (or just really stupid)?

1. Connect them together..
2. Set both to static IPs similarly.
Such as
Comp=192.168.0.2
Lappy=192.168.0.3

ASSUMING you have shared folders already on the laptop etc

Then just type \\IPaddress in the Ddress bar in internet explorer and you will see the other computers network shares
