Crossing streams!

I'm thinking of Crossfiring my wife's GPU an HD Radeon 5850 with 1440 Stream Processing Units.

My main concern is that the model has been discontinued and most of the comparable ones out there only have 1408 Stream Processing Units.

Would I notice a significant difference in performance with the disparity in stream processing or would the improved Core clock make a difference?

My main reason for crossfiring is to alleviate the crashing when she watches streaming movies while playing Rift.

Appreciate any help. Thanks

welcome to the forums.
all 5850's have the same amount of stream processors.
All 5850's will crossfire with each other, in fact any 5850 will crossfire with a 5830 or 5870 also.

If you can find a used 5850 for about 150$ or less its a great upgrade.

Please tell us about the rest of your system. Cpu name/speed , monitor resolution, and power supply and we can further help you.

sorry missed this,
I don't think crossfire will help this. You might be ok with a slower card to run movies and run the 5850 for games.
But it might be a driver issue or specific game issue.
