All,
Noticed that the x800 and x850 crossfire cards have dropped in price on NewEgg since x1900 was released.

x800 Crossfire is $234 shipped
x850 Crossfire is $265 shipped

Tempted to add an x850 Xfire to my unlocked x800GTO^2 and A8R-MVP :)

That does make it tempting...I'm monitor limited anyway so the resolution/refresh rate thing would be no big deal. 2 Questions if anyone knows-

1. What is the highest refresh rate for the 1280x960 resolution?

2. Will the new RD580 boards be able to run say 2 x800GTO's in crossfire?(without the dongle of course).

Yeah, X800 Crossfire is nothing to drop $265 on.

Keep that $265 and put it towards an X1900XT

He's talking about a deal on a second card since he already has an X800. But you figured you'd pop in to recommend that he go buy two 7800GT's eh?

I think a 7800GT or if you want to stick with ATI, an X1800XL is still a better option than X800 Beta Crossfire.

RD580 delayed and busted atm...don't count on a release just yet.

Knew it was delayed- I guess there must be a reason, but do you know what's busted about it? Is it on hold indefinetely?

He doesn't. Just an nvidia fanboy. The RD580 is about as "busted" as the G71. Late/feb early march is when you'll see the RD580 based motherboards.

RD580 boards will rock

X800 cross fire isnt really worth it IMO, the resolution limitation sucks, but it will be totally fine if you dont plan on 1600x1200 or more.

ATI's first Stab at an SLI competitor are best laid to rest unless they are considerably cheaper than the competition

Look at my sig Robert. Your words. If you can tell us why the RD580 is delayed, then we might believe your statement about it being not broken. Until then, we have to assume that something did not go 100% right and they are working to remedy the situation. You lashing out at Ronin served no purpose but your own. Anyway, to the OP, RD580 delayed
You might just be better of with the ASUS board with the RD480 as the article states.

The "busted" is a personal assumption and as about as valid as me saying they're not "busted." The INQ article also states:
"We saw R580-based boards up and running on ATI's booth at CES 2006 but we'll have to wait to see them in our shops and homes. We know that some companies are finalizing their own RD580 motherboard designs but they won't be done before tomorrow that?s for sure. You should see many RD580 motherboards at Cebit in early March although the boards should be selling even earlier than that."
...rather than saying there are major issues with it. This is the hardware industry after all. If there were severe issues with the RD580, you would have surely heard it from various sources.

You're right, perhaps I should have replied to him with the above rather than what I wrote.

Robert, I have as many contacts at ATi as I do nVIDIA. Rather than being a rude prick, you might take heed to looking back and seeing that I've provided as much ATi info as I have nVIDIA info.

Until then, you're lumped in with the likes of M0RPH, Intelia, Turtle, etc. Good job, you've earned it.

This is the hardware industry after all. If there were severe issues with the RD580, you would have surely heard it from various sources.

This statement alone tells me you actually have very little knowledge about the industry. :)
