As the title states, is it possible to run a crossfire rig with v-sync on as well with triple buffering?

In this case the 2 cards will be a pair of 4850's, is this possible?

It's possible, but multi-GPU solutions are generally flaky and inconsistent in this area.

If you?re planning to run with vsync all the time, it?s better to buy a single card since the whole point of multi-GPU is to attain a higher framerate over a single card.

Why not a single 4890?

I'm upgrading to a build that supports crossfire and already own an 4850, with the prices dropping I figured I'd drop in another card if this was possible. I can't game without v-sync on so I might pass on this for now, thanks for the reply.

Sell the 4850, and use the money to buy a 4890 (assuming you want to stick with ATi, of course).
