CROSSFIRE REVIEW!!!

I noticed after I posted, oh well internet was down and just came back up and didnt see it there so I posted, but whatever. The important thing is, ATI's solution is better in every benchy besides doom3.

Im really impressed by a single 7800GTX after the article. But I will wait to see what the R520 brings to the tables.

I'm sorry but I don't see it. Cross fire is very similar in benchmarking to a single 7800...? You can get the 7800 for $500...to have cross fire(lets say you have the motherboard already) you need 2 ati cards which will be a lot more then $500....

Oh...and I'm not starting an NVIDIA/ATI war....I'm an ATI fan personally...I have an x800xl...
I'm just saying I don't see the benefit...

I could be wrong though...just thought I"d put this out there...

Right, but then again no one should run out and buy 2 ultras either, since you can get a single 7800 for less money. The important thing is it seems to work, so once the r520 is out, you can x-fire 2 of them together and nvidia will have some serious competition.

Right, because we know exactly how the R520 is going to perform.

Jesus, people, stop and think.

We dont know exactly, but I would expect the r520 to perform at least as good as the 7800gtx, especially since it gets released later, and unless ati hired a bunch of highschool dropouts for engineers, chances are it will give the 7800 a good run for it's money.

Do you have any reason to believe why the r520 will NOT be as good as a 7800? Lets hear it...

Well the NV30 was out much later than the R300 and look what happened to it.

Crossfire isn't much better than SLI. Granted Crossfire edges a few more percentage points performance delta over SLI, but all in all they are both very solid solutions. Based on these benches, i would consider them equal with the nod to crossfire (but then again, i haven't seen many benches).

Though I am not a fan of the multi card solution, when you compare the single 6800U and X850XT to the multi card implementation of each, the Cross-fire solution clearly looks better.

And when you compare each of the older GPU's to the newer 7800 GPU you almost have to ask why bother with two?

I must be wrong then. I didnt remember them until Jan. BTW, reviews dont mean they are actually out. Im too lazy to search forums for who got it when it first came out, and what date it was.

SImply because the X850 are faster from the beginning. Look at the percentages. Crossfire only posseses a 3-5% advantage when it beats SLI.

The solutions look very equal with me with the nod going to Crossfire (as i said before).

Then don't argue the point to begin with. 😉

I wasnt arguing it. I simply said that I dont recall seeing it out last year. Which I didnt. I remember previews, very late in Nov. but not actual cards and motherboards for sale.
