Crossfire profiles

So I have a question.

Every driver for me past 10.5 has had some kind of problem or other. Is it "safe" to use new crossfire profiles on top of older drivers? I did install 10.8a profile earlier this month with no ill side effects but a week ago I installed CCC 10.8 and basically ended up wiping them out and running driver cleaner cause my crossfire was all f'ed up.

Do the crossfire profiles only work the driver set they were released for?


I really do wish AMD would get on the ball with their drivers. I'm not ready to jump ship or anything but this botched driver situation is kind of bullshit. I'm just glad there is a set that actually works. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 10.9's will be better and Metro 2033 performance will get a little better. I'm enjoying the game immensly, and a few extra fps's would help. =)

I don't know if crossfire profiles mix well with older Catalyst driver versions, but RadeonPro is the best thing I've done to my HD 4850 since I put an aftermarket cooler on the thing. This application allows you to create profiles for your games, and allows you access to settings that CCC doesn't. For instance, you can force v-sync with all D3D applications through RadeonPro, and you can also adjust the LOD bias. There's also a page with crossfire settings that you can set globally or per application.

ATI should get this guy onboard their driver team, and let him work his magic. Their driver team seems to have been fumbling with the last few driver releases.

actually i do use radeon pro, thanks for the heads up though as a lot of people don't know about it so it is good to talk about the program so it can gain popularity.

I'm actually pretty sure that the profiles are specifically made for people who DON'T get the new driver, as I think it is ATI's policy to include the updated profiles as part of the driver itself.

I'm sure they do not include the profile as part of the driver itself as when I've upgraded drivers without crossfire profiles crossfire does NOT work. As for whether its a good idea to use updated profiles on old drivers I'd go for the most recent drivers (10.8) which are the best for months for me.

Pretty sure that isn't the case -without crossfire profiles i.e. with only drivers crossfire does not work for me. I'd get 10.8 drivers and profiles and use them if I were you.
