Crossfire on micro ATX core2duo Mobo?

Having ended up with a nice all aluminium ThermalTake LAN Party box I suddenly realised that no current G33 chipset micro atx motherboards have dual PCIe slots.

So what are my choices in terms of motherboard? 😕

Yes I could use the G33 mobos if I go for an nvidia 8800 Ultra, but it and it's lesser cousin the GTX won't fit at 27.5 cm long! At least not without losing the data HDD bay!
And besides, www.firingsquad.com posted a benchmark review that put the crossfire 2900XT comparably with the ultra at particular resolutions and particular games. And yes I've read the thread here comparing the two.
I just want to know what my options are regarding micro atx mobos with crossfire or even SLI.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Ooooh, that's very nice to know!

Ta lots for the info.

Hmmm... the review you linked to says that the cards in crossfire mode are running at x4 and x4 but still shows a 25% increase in a PCMark test.
If the G33 is similar to the P35 in having a x16 and x4 PCIe slots, surely to get an increase the cards might be running x16 and x4?

Now I just gotta work out what happens to the SATA slots with two cards in Crossfire cos those sata ports look like they've been occluded. But seeing as I'm probably only running 2HDDs in a Smallish Form Factor it shouldn't be an issue...

I might just get one 2900XT for the mo so I can measure it up and if i'm not happy with the second card placement, I'll either have to wait for a good microatx crossfire solution or put this box away and get more graphic oomph by using a midi tower.
Hopefully though, I'll be going Crossfire. I like the portability of the system (I take my box to work for lunchtime breaks quite often!)
