CrossFire Help

Before CrossFire came out ATI was saying about how you could crossfire two different GPUs and how you could basically buy a GPU and then later buy another and they would work together in CrossFire. I haven't heard anything about that but does anyone know how two different GPUs work together or how they render two different screens?

When it first came out though it said it could be paired with any other ATI graphics card. Does that sound about right?

And also if I have 2 Graphics cards and don't crossfire them can they power 2 separate monitors? Compatibility issues or anything?

You can use mixed manufacturers within the boundaries set forth in the Crossfire Compatibility Charts

I suppose you could, but with most of ATI's current offerings you can do that off of one card for half the power with little degredation in performance for most multi-monitor applications.
