Hey folks, I've been scanning the googles for recent tests, but can't find anything.

Can anyone verify performance of 2 6850s in eyefinity for Bad Company 2 and other reasonably demanding games?

Looking at how to finish a build for a friend and if another 6850 delivers good dividends, I'd find one on the cheap somewhere.

Appreciate any help.

1GB of VRAM is not going to be enough for that resolution. You could go without running any AA in games and it would probably do OK. Easy to run games like anything Source engine based, Unreal 3 engine games or Call of Duty games would run well. Some games would die no matter what, BFBC2 could likely be one of those games.

6950 2GB at a minimum for eyefinity imo.

I saw quite a few reviews of involving the 6850 and bad company 2 over at [H] but, I don't recall any using xfire.

Hmm. I was reading old (8mos - 1+ year old) reviews/benches saying that 6850s could push eyefinity well enough, but there were possibly driver issues or something. Just wondered if anyone had done testing more recently at the higher resolutions and with xfire.

I'll keep poking.

Thanks guys.

It depends which eyefinity resolution you use...
1 GB is perfectly fine for 5040x1050 which is what I tested at with 2x GTX 560 Ti in SLI.
It ran perfectly fine @ 4x AA averaging 50-60 FPS which is very nice considering what is pushing it. This whole debate about AA rendering 1GB of Vram obsolete is nil. There are many situations in even games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 like what I mentioned above that still operate just fine with 4x MSAA at very high res. I even went up to 8x MSAA but it was a matter of processing power not VRAM that stopped me from using it full time.

I also have a Quadfire 6970 setup as well, and of course it would do MUCH better at resolutions above that in eyefinity as well as maxed out AA. Either way with 2x6850 in crossfire, you wouldn't be able to render at above 5040x1050 regardless of VRAM, so that 1GB is actually matched up pretty well with them. There is no point in having 2GB of VRAM on each card if they dont have the rendering prowess to push high resolutions regardless of the framebuffer.

I hope I've helped you out some...

Good luck!

Appreciate the advice/info.

Purchased a second card for the build and will see how it works out.
