Currently I am running 4890 @ 1920x1080. Crysis/Crysis Warhead are the 2 games that absolutely hammer it with any AA. But most other modern games run great. So 5850 should be just fine.

for the most part a single 5850 will tear through most games at that res and can also be overclocked to 5870 levels. really since you are debating getting 1 or 2 why not try 1 first? that would seem like the logical thing to do as you can always just add another. also I hope the rest of your system is up to snuff if you are even thinking about 5850 crossfire.

yeah no probs there. I would certainly do a little cpu overclocking especially if you decide to go with 2 5850 cards.

well for most games its way more than enough but if you really want to crank Crysis, Warhead, STALKER Clear Sky and upcoming Call of Pripyat then you could certainly give those cards a workout. really just get one for now and see how that does for you.

the original STALKER game is fairly mild but Clear Sky requires a beast of a card if you run all settings maxed especially with AA. really just turning down a couple of settings like sun shafts and SSAO can double your framerate though and the game still looks basically the same. it looks like the next STALKER game, Call of Pripyat could be even more demanding.

Stick with single 5850 for 1080p and put the money into an i7 upgrade instead - that's a much better investment right now.

True. Tried imported CoP and it's quite demanding with everything enabled.
