I think it's on a fine line, but it's on the right side of the fine line - the message has its purpose and it's well stated with those pics. There is a warning in the post, you know.

Yeah we should burn all these libraries down to! Too much information for the masses.

Only comment I have is: we can't have babe/girl/women pictures in OT, but we can have dead children pictures in P&N?

Why not? If someone can post pics of a guy with his head busted open and his brains all over the pavement in OT, why not pics of dead babies? Unless, of course, it all depends on who you are and who you know around here, which it probably does.

I saw a warning telling me the links was pretty graphic. That's enough warning for me.

While that's certainly more graphical than most threads about the war, I wouldn't say it's more disturbing than the huge indifference many people seem to have to the victims of the war.

Quite the opposite in fact.

Since we can't figure out who's friend and who's foe (seems to change daily), the only victims I care about are our servicemen and servicewomen. The rest can go to hell.

Gestapo...right, that would be me. I just find the photos offensive in their context. Labeling dead mutilated babies "Dead miniterrorists" is plain disgusting to me...simple as that. I saw the warning, so perhaps that should be enough. I guess we should hunt down any number of pics of the horrors of war to push the point home. "This can't be in any way appropriate anywhere in these forums " Thats exactly what I meant. Its not exactly free speech here now is it? If you can post pics like that, doesn't seem like there would many that couldn't be posted IMHO, thats my point.

Keep in mind these are just my opinions.

P&N in my thoughts would contain the worst possible footage known to the boards. Seriously the real world is often more dirty and evil than what we can show or want to see on TV. From an educational stand point I feel the pictures served their purpose, I am sure many have no idea.

Now showing an accident victim that died from stupidity is just morbid entertainment....while there could be education in it, more often than not it's just to point and laugh. Showing models and other eyecandy again is way different in same way National Geographic is sometimes just as graphic as playboy....yet gets the newsstand were Playboy is prohibited....there is a difference to content.

I think if more people actually knew what war and battles entailed as well as all the things that happen leading up and after them, it would make people more aware of what's going on today.

Maybe put a pic and small write up on the back of Starbucks cups. ;)

I do agree with that. I also do think that the reality of war is very far from our comfortable homes here in the States even if its forefront in our minds. My best friends brother was an Army photographer during Vietnam and the images I saw back then as a teenager when he got back from his tour of duty still haunt me today. I see the maimed babies and the torn up bodies of soldiers and civilians without ever having to look at the photos after that, so I guess I have a skewed bias from my own experience. I also guess now that I think about it, that in some warped way I am a better person from seeing my friends brother's pictures way back then as it does influence me even today. I don't see dead miniterrorists, I see someones child or sister or grandson and I see victims.

You are right you know, and I don't need to see it myself....but they are damn sure alot of people who do.

I agree. People think all the vietcong knew they were the enemy. It's not the case, they thought we were. They were just trying to live their lives.

The sad state is when two young soldiers face each other alone hand to hand. Both know on different terms they may have had good stories to share, but now they have orders to kill each other. These two may not even believe in the war they are fighting in and may actually be 'for' the other 'team'.

It's screwed up and one of the reasons I wish the laws were more liberal giving people the right to slap someone quiet. It's all these loudmouths that go off protesting for others to fight their battles. Battles they have no understanding of.

Yes, this was all over the News Channels, the exact pictures were shown on NBC last night, I was surprised but it is both News and Politics. Certainly does not belong in OT but OK in P&N as long as it is part of the News.

I wouldn't be surprised if pressure from the Internet doing it forced NBC News to air the pics.

Which also goes to show how fvcked up the morals in this country are when it's OK to broadcast pictures of dead babies during the nightly news, but all hell breaks loose if a tit is shown.

Welcome to the society that would have its kids see violence rather than sex.

Edit v1.1 - grammar change
Edit v1.2: And now I see that slick230 essentially said the same thing that I was thinking. :)
And that "tit shown" - check Britney Spears' Toxic video. As you can imagine, it makes that thing with Justin and Janet look like an outing with the Queen of England.
