I don't see the big deal. While it is cross-posting, the podcasts cover both PC and console games. I don't see it as spam though.

well like you said it is cross posting.

also he's straight up advertising his own webpage, which is basically spamming.

it's a podcast. if you are subscribed to it there is no need whatsoever to be told there is a new one out because the podcast auto updates it.

i'm with homer here.

Thanks for the support, purbeast0. :)

Seriously though, I can appreciate ones concern to keep the forums they regular, clean. If it's really that big of a deal to everyone and a mod asks me to stop--I will. However, I feel its only fair for me to inform everyone that doesnt know already that there is no money being made here on my (or my cohosts) part--infact it's quite the opposite. There is not a single ad on the website or within the podcast. It's just a fun hobby. I use to give away games for free ever once in a while in the forums and now I've moved that to the Podcast. It just seemed like a logical move to me.

To answer purbeast0's queston--the reason why I continue to post new releases is because we continue to get new subsribers/traffic from these forums each time I do it. If that wasnt happening, then I probably wouldnt post them.

As a side note, it's so interesting to me how some people are really supportive and cool about the efforts here that we put into the Podcast with people sending me PM and emails, and then some people seem to get so offended. I just find the behavior interesting.

Anyway. Again--mods let me know what you want me to do. No biggie...

I don't really CARE about it one way or another. It was more of a question than a complaint in all honesty. So you can try to read into my "behavior" all you like. I'm not sure what you are tying to imply/figure out.

As far as the no-ads on your page I see that. But on the flip side who's to say you couldn't just build up a listener base and flip the switch tomorrow too to get revenue via adds.

As I said, I don't really care one way or another if you do it or not. I was more curious into the cross-posting and the self-promotion aspect of it.

warcrow I don't really care either personally I am just wondering as homerboy is.

when i started a gaming site i made 1 simple post about it, and know what happened? locked on instant and I got a PM from a mod about it.

so like I said it doesn't bug me I just think they should be consistent with how they treat threads of that such.

Cross-posting isn't allowed. I will lock the one from PC Gaming.

Even though there might not be money made or exchanged here, the rules are clear on self-promotion. It's not allowed. You are however allowed the link in your sig, as defined in the rules.

Creating specific threads to promote your podcasts is self-promotion without gain but still self-promotion. I will leave that one thread open for the time being while this will be discussed between the mods.

Considering both Warcrow's and Modep's contributions to the gaming forums and the positive discussions provided by the threads in question, I think both should be allowed to continue.

This is also noted for mod discussion. If the members think these threads are useful, people should post the reasons to keep or eliminate them.

don't get me wrong, I think both are fine, but you can't pick and choose who you will allow to discuss their own projects here and who can't.

When I said I noted it for mod discussion, it was meant in a positive way. I would hope to not pick and choose, as you say. I was not even aware of these threads as I don't venture into those forums. It was brought up by a mod in the mod forum, and we are discussing the merits of these kinds of threads.

We would have to "loosen" up the rules regarding these kinds of threads to allow them and input from the membership will help in that decision.
