With the release of W2k - Do I still need to take core exams for NT4.0?
Do I need to learn and take exams for both OSes?
What's the strategy on which exams should you do first?
What's a good learning methods? taking classes/online classes/self-study?

which one should I do first? (for those who passed it )

any input or infos would be appreciated ..
Thanks

MCSE requirements

The windows NT4 track is retired as of March 31. If you want to get your MCSE, then your going to have to take all of the win2k cores and electives. I took 4 NT4 tests before they were retired, so I can take an accelerated exam before next year, that will let me skip the core exams for win2k, so I only have to take the electives.

I passed the NT4 exams by buying study guides, and putting the OS's on my computers at home. I also learned some networking stuff in my Cisco Academy course at school. I'll probably do the same for the win2k exams.

I'm taking classes for the MCSE. The classes are useful if you have a good teacher, otherwise you're gonna have to rely on bookwork and studying to "learn" it. It's also crucial that you experience it. Even if it's just one or two computers, you have to visually know your way around the os.

My win2k pro test is next week. I've studied Exam Cram, the Microsoft "official cirriculum" book that we get in class, and brainbuzz. As well as a lot of practice tests including Transcenders. I'll let you know if it worked. :) Depends on how well you are with studying to be able to do it alone but it's been done. However, I do hear that windows 2000 is a lot harder than NT4 was (and I think I'm seeing it).

I'm dreading the Directory Services test. =\

On a good note, XP will not require new testing, it will work with win2k and vice versa (depending on what you want to test/study for).
