Crome Orb ---- would it hurt if i cut a little off?

the Corb will not fit on a EPOX 8KTA+ motherboard cause the transitors are too close to the cpu slot

so if i were to "modify" it, would it hurt the cooling performance?

i know it sounds dumb but i have nothing else to use it for and i hate to send it back cuase the shipping would be more then its worth

How much modification are you talking? Minor cuts and shavings should have little/no effect on the cooling performance. Just make sure the CPU/sink contact area isn't affected.

Jimmy, it won't hurt the hsf, lots of people have done it on CORBs to make them fit on ABIT KT7's. Here's the real problem, The CORB isn't such a great cooler. The Taisol CEK733092 is much better and costs about $11 plus shipping. If you running a TBIRD at 850 or less or a Duron that isn't OC'd, mod the CORB. If you have a higher speed BIRD or want to OC, get a better HSF.
