I was going for a very simple looking design and something that doesn't pop out in your face. School colors are maroon and white so I have to keep those.

Your second paragraph is a bit weak. Over all though, it's pretty clean.

I like, try bolding the text to the links. Might help it flow with the maroon banner and kind of make them standout from the standard page text.
