it's been a while so any input is welcome! was thinking about maybe getting 8gb of ram instead if its worth the price.

Im a bit unsure as to the GPU I chose.. I used the bench here on at to try and pick a nice one but there are just so many options.

budget is 800-1000. Ideally Id like to spend less but only so often is it time to buy a new system.

any recommendations are welcome!

Memory and HDD are a bit on the expensive side. Unless you run SuperPI all day long, you will never be able to tell the difference between that CAS 7 and the cheaper G.Skill CAS 9. There's also really no reason to get the FALS over an 1TB F3.

As for the GPU, I would spend the extra $30 and get the 1GB version. If you read AT's launch article, there is really a lot more than 256MB of RAM that differentiates the two.

is this meant to be a gaming computer? if so, and you're gaming at 1920x1080 or higher, you might want to get a 460gtx 1gb.

also there are alot of 2x2gb ddr3 1333 cas 9 kits
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...sktop%20Memory
and unless you plan on overclocking there'd be no difference between them (Geil 72$)

the 2x4gb ripjaws are a nice deal atm though if you want 8gb, though you probably won't need it (160$)

if you don't need to buy everything from newegg, microcenter always has deals on CPU's, and fry's might have one atm

Thanks for your help guys! I made a couple of changes based on your replys.

I switched the HDD to the one mfenn recommended. might as well save a few bucks

I also switched from the 4gb cas7 to the 8gb cas9 kit(just for the hell of it)

and after looking at frys (no microcenters near, doesnt look like they ship CPU's?) I can get the i5 760 for 169.99 (vs 199.99 for the 750 at newegg)

and finally, since Im going to be getting a larger monitor eventually I switched to the 1GB ATI HD 5850

as long as I didnt make a mistake on the GPU, I think this looks pretty good

I like everything except the 5850. Right now you can get a 460 for $20 less and get ~ the same performance. If you want to, stick with ATI.
