just out of curiousity, has anyone contacted you for help since you have set up the website?

also, this question directed at anyone. In order to start a business like this, do you need to register as a sole proprietorship or anything? (if this is just a side/part time job)?

also, as stated before, change the name, its terrible for the business world.

also, your prices seem way too fvcken high. You have PC overhaul at $375 + the cost of the parts? Are you kidding me? Also, I think the time structure is not good. Just do flat rates.

After reading the other comments and taking a second look, I'd have to add a few other comments:

- Definitely learn HTML and stylesheets instead of using a WYSIWYG editor. Your code will be a lot cleaner and not so full of crap if you do it by hand.

- Try using percentages for the table widths so that the page can expand and contract to fit different resolutions. Some layouts work really well with this and others don't, but it's worth experimenting with so you use the screen real estate effectively. The dead space on the right-hand side is pretty glaring. If nothing else, try centering the pages in a table instead of aligning to the left.

- The URL is kind of confusing, but I'm short on better ideas so I'll leave it at that. The name is catchy, however.

- Color scheme could maybe be jazzed up a bit, but that's your call. It's not horrible by any means, but a little bland IMHO. Perhaps use a different shade of blue or another color besides brown.

- You might want to add a basic form that gets emailed to you on the Contact Us page, or at least outline what you'd need to get from people who email you (e.g. phone number, basic description of the work to be done, etc.). People will still be morons who need help, but hopefully they'll at least give you some basic info to go on when you get back to them.

- Definitely shorten the "About Us" page a bit. Like someone else said, try breaking it down into bulleted lists or at least cut back on the verbal diarrhea. 😉

I will say again that it is a good clean start, just needs a little touching up.

You are asking for critique, so I hope you take these as "constructive" criticism:

1. Company Name/Domain address
-- Definitely catchy and unique looking
-- Also definitely confusing. When you hand out your business card, or at least verbally give your website address, it will be a bit difficult to explain how to "access" your website.
Suggestion: Try applying for another domain name and point it to the same site. That way, you cover the "proper spelling" domain name

2. No graphics or photos
-- I know you're trying to make the site look as professional as possible, but even professional sites have some sort of tasteful graphics on it (e.g., related to the business)
Suggestion: take a pic of your work area or employees working on a repair (if any)

3. About us section
-- Too much copy that's not really organized
Suggestion: try adding sub-headings -- for the "main" paragraphs

4. No footer
Suggestion: if you truly want to make your site professional, add a footer with menu text links (and perhaps, copyright information)

Best of luck with your business!

I agree with all of RaDragon's points. Especially the 1st. If you told someone "seventy seven dot com" they would never find your site. And this may sound silly. but a 7 doesn't look like a V.

I dont like the name for the website. It would make more sense for it to be seventy7, the se7enty7 is just confusing.

seventy7.com is taken

i've considered 77pcrepair..

this isn't a business im starting... I've been doing this for about two years with success. I've got a ton of business cards and would rather not change everything

You are going to be fixing lots of old computers - so why does your site not resize for an 800x600 display. Don't forget most of the people willing to pay that kind of money to fix their puters - are those that wont be staring at a 1152xsomething screen . .

it works fine for 1024x768

I can make it not quite so wide

Resize your display to 800x600 then look at it - you have to scroll up/down and right/left. There is an html tag for % of desktop space, and it will resize accordingly. . .

Nice site and easy to navigate, but you could
liven it up a little more.

Your prices are high man.
1 hr for RAM upgrade?
dam....
I would charge half that.

*edit* also...the name of your site is very hard to remember
I've seen it multiple times in this thread and still can't
remember what it is.
It is definitely NOT something people will remember
