I'd kill the software section, if you can program in C they will assume you can use microsoft office. Only have that kind of section if you can use stuff like SAP r/3 or peoplesoft stuff or rational rose etc.

I guess it's a pretty fair assumption, huh?

I think that a education section would be good. Mainly to include any degrees/certifications you might have.

<< i thought it was best to keep things to 1 page long >>

One to two pages is acceptable for a resume.

Looks alright, I'd' try to ease up on the BS in the objective/summary paragraph, though. It's laid on a LITTLE thick for my tastes.

Grammatical error, "assisted in building of" should read "assisted in building" or reworded entirely
Below that, rephrase a bit, maybe "responsible for maintance and suprivision of 20 network workstations"

maybe try to get rid of some of the "assisteds" in there as well...

get some more detail into your project work - ie "wrote over 300 inter-connected" .. wrote in what languages? on what platforms?

PS: Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like 1 page to me... (but I'm opening it with wordpad...)

my tech resume is way long, 4 pages (including reference sheet), and I've had nothing but goodluck on it. HR sent out to 3 companies for me, got 3 hits :) Although it could just be luck on my part. But yeah, two pages is the norm.

I would definitely make the name smaller ... or move it right above your p0 box with a slightly larger font ... I would also shorten the objective and summary ... generally depending on the co. I'm interviewing for ... I would tailor it more to what they might be looking for ... but since this a job fair, that might not work ... and finally as you said try to keep it under 1 page ...

my 2 cents ...

what kind of job are you looking for, man?
HR ppl don't have time to read all that. You'd better cut it down to one line and be specific (something like "Seeking for a position as a Web Developer". And the rest of it you can put at the end of your resume that called "personalities" or something like that.
Most of job fairs have resume critique booth that offers free resume review. You can have them check for you.
It helped for me.

verb tense:

· Debug existing JSP and Java Servlet application for ClosingProtection.com
· Extending ClosingProtection.com application and incorporating administrative and reporting features
· Consulting ContinuingEducation.com management and developers

Suggestion: cut it back to one page and lengthen on to two full pages. It is always good to have two different resumes. One for sending out and one for handing out to interviewers.

Suggestions for cutting it down:
There is a lot of white space at the top. Consider moving your address to one side and keeping your phone and email on the other. And delete some of the double spaces in between items. I worked it down to only needing 4 more lines to finish moving your education over to the first page. Consider playing with your margins to help consolidate.

Just my thoughts.

The people at my school's career center said current employment should be in the current tense. Were they alone?

Suggestion: When I'm reading resumes, the first thing I want to know is what you have done, where you have worked and what you have worked on, not your technical background.

It is easy to read and thats a plus but if I were you, I would space out between the bold print so someone scanning wont miss an important point.

1) reduce white space at top
2) switch TECHNICAL SKILLS and PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE sections around
3) Coursework could be eliminated if you want it on 1 page
4) Slightly shorten the objectives - the last 5 sentences are not objectives.

forgot #5: If you don't do anything, at least make sure your second webmaster job is on the same page (instead of page spanning).

1) shorten your objective
2)put work experience first
3) lose the grades.. just make it more compact

GPA should not be needed on the resume when a grad degree has been achieved. Implies bragging.
