Our Career Center has been holding a bunch of things to help us, but unfortunately I missed out on all the resume sessions which were last week or the week before. I also didn't realize there were these preselect sessions and I missed the those.

I'm graduating in May 2008 and this fall fair is larger than the spring one (286 companies) so I got to take this thing seriously! I don't have much experience with this, as I've only interviewed with three companies 2 years ago when I got an internship. As you can see from below, I'll have a BS in Computer Engineering from Michigan Tech University.

I took a screenshot of my resume. The yellow at the top is just to cover up my name and email (center) and addresses (left and right). Any comments or suggestions?

Various questions:
1) I didn't do an EE double major for various reasons, and as I figured, there is a little less than 50% the number of listings for CpE than EE, though it's still a good number.. I've noticed that on the career center webpage, it lists Ford and GM as looking for CpE and EE majors (among others), but Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are only listed for EE.

Would it be off-limits for me to even bother with say Honda? I mean I don't want to waste their or my time and look like I can't read that it says EE, but I was thinking that obviously a CpE's skills would be used in the automotive industry, and that some EE positions are more digital design or programming, but those companies don't really recognize CpE majors and lump you as either CS or EE. Is this a reasonable assumption? I would consider working for an automotive company but I'd probably avoid something like GM or Delphi.

2) Dress: Is for example khaki pants, a white or blue long-sleeve dress shirt, and a tie acceptable? I don't even have a shirt or tie (yet), and I'd rather not buy a suit or sportcoat at this point.

3) When looking for internships, I didn't have a cover letter nor did any of my peers. However for this time, should I have at least a few companies I really want to see and research them and provide a cover letter with my resume when I go to these booths? Or should I have a general cover letter + resume for EVERY company?

4) What about government jobs? Or contractors? Places like Raytheon generally hire lots of people. DoD will be there as well, and on their webpage they listed positions for Computer Engineering that started at $100k...? I assume that is for people with experience? Would DoD be a good option, say a civilian contractor for the Army or something? And what general things can I have or not have to get a security clearance?

Any tips would be appreciated. I'm sure a lot of you have been through this already or are doing the same thing with preparation and whatnot. Thanks

Thanks. Yeah I went to another seminar today and got some good info about making a good introduction to sell myself, so I got a lot of work to do in the next few days to get prepared.

Barring some formatting, and I hold that formatting is all personal preference, it looks like a solid resume. Definately one of the best set-up I've seen from the boards.
