Critique my planned system

This is what I am planning to get the wife for a "do-it-all"/ look pretty system. (I already have a suitable LCD) This should run about $1800. Thoughts?

AOpen XC Cube MZ915-M
AOpen Black IDE Slim DVD Burner
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000KS 500GB
Hauppauge WINTV-PCR 150MCE-LP PCI Low Profile TV Tuner Card
AOpen Aeolus PCX6600-DV128LP Geforce 6600 128MB PCIe x16 Low Profile
Microsoft Media Center Keyboard
CORSAIR ValueSelect (2 x 1GB) DDR (PC 3200)
Microsoft MCE Remote
Intel Pentium M 730
Windows MCE 2005 OEM

$1800 for all that? Is that including the monitor? Seems REALLY pricey. Might wanna check out the AT Real Time Price Engine for some better deals.

Config-wise it seems fine. You might wait for the mid-range 7-series GPU from NVIDIA, but nothing wrong with the 6600.

Have you thought about using a Turion-based system? Dunno if there is one in the size, but might be a bit cheaper.

Concur on the pricey comment, but that is what goes with the EXTREMELY small size <200 x 106 x 320mm (WxHxD)>/ Pentium M thing. If you can recommend something similarly small and "pretty" I am more than game to drop $$$.

You metioned going the 7xxx series for video- Is there a low profile 7xxx fanless somewhere?

Didn't realize the 6600 was low-profile fanless, it'll be a while till we see some of those in the 7-series I'd say. The niche products take a while to come out. Keep the 6600 then

shuttle option might be better then the aopen one. Shuttle makes a P-M case board cpu combo and its white and VERY VERY PRETTY!

I believe u could probably pull off the shuttle system for around 1000 dollars if u shop smart. Since ur in cali, newegg will be too expensive if u include sales tax. Just AT realtime it, or froogle.com!

I recommend waiting till the Zalman VF-900 as it's quite low profile and will provide nice cooling, that way you can get a better card like a 6800GS.
