Critique my Next Upgrade :)

Power Supply: Antec P4 ATX12V
Fans: 2x Blue Quad LED Fans from svc.com
Video Card: 9700 Non Pro or 9800 Non Pro depending on pricing when I buy all this
CPU: Pentium 2.4C Ghz (might go for a 2.6C or 2.8C depending on pricing)
RAM: 2x 256MB OCZ DDR PC-3200 Cas 2

As for the case, I'm not too sure yet, but the Chieftec AX-01SLD is the only that seems to be one that I like so far.

For the motherboard, I'm definately going to go for an 875P motherboard. I'm currently using an Intel motherboard and I have no complaints or reasons to not get the Intel 875P because I like how it performs.

Here is my dillema, I'm also going to want to setup a Raid 0 setup with this, I'd prefer (depending on price differences) to get a motherboard with IDE Raid because I don't want to go out and purchase new SATA drives. Which 875P motherboards support IDE Raid? I'm confused at which ones, do but here is a link to the 875P motherboard @ newegg.com: Linky How much would the cheapest RAID 0 card cost? I'm not looking for something dirt cheap making a single drive on its own faster than a Raid setup but then again I'm not looking for something like a $100 card. I'd prefer the cheapest possible without sacrificing too much speed.

For the case, I'm not going to restrict myself to a price range on this, but I'm looking for a case with a window, front USB ports, and preferably front Audio In/Out ports which is useful when I use a headset during clan matches. I've seen that the Thermaltake c ases do all this but I don't want something that expensive.

Thanks In Advance.

I would probably get twice as much ram. Do you need it now? Nope. But if this upgrade is going to carry you through a year or two, you'll probably wish you had bought when it was cheap.

Thats what I was thinking but my dad doesn't really want to spend that much on RAM because in the past we've always gotten whatever SDRAM is for like a few dollars or free after rebate and any local store. I think I'll be fine with 512mb for some time, but I'll get some more as I feel its needed. What about the case and motherboard?

Those look nice but the ones I'm looking at with a window on the side, simple design, don't have front USB ports and front audio in/out ports either. Just FYI, I was looking at the 1300 series.

I'm sure there is a case out there like I want it but I just can't find it, I bet someone here knows about it too. Would you be willing to tell me? It'll make my life so much easier...*sigh*

Looks good, i would prolly grab some faster ram though... You are gonna need to crank that FSB out...

Thats what I was thinking earlier but then I thought about it twice, I'm not going to overclock and I don't really feel a need to overclock. As long as I can play games like UT2K3 and Morrowind @ 1024x768 2xAA and 8x AF or something with decent rates I'm fine. Oh yeah, all settings to high as well.

Well for the extra 20 it could serve you well in a future upgrade...

I am confused on what you want to accomplish with this upgrade. If you are looking to save a lot of money by skimping on the RAM and slower CPU why are you wanting to get the newest motherboard out? Why not look at one of the granite bay boards or SIS 655 boards? If you go with the Canterwood (it is nice, no argument there) the cheapest one you could find with IDE RAID is the Aopen AX4C for 193.00 (newegg.com) but if you are going to spend that I would go on and get the Giga-byte GA-8KNXP, you get a lot more features and it looks a lot cooler in a case window!!!!. But my point is if money is a concern, and you are going to get a 533 CPU, go with a 533 board. I would go with the SIS 655 board (it has pc2700 dual channel RAM), save a few dollars and up the RAM or go with a pro video card.
