Critical Updates and then SP1, or SP1 1st?

Hello All,

Previously, and before the SP1 made itself available, I had done the usual periodic Critical Updates. When the SP1 made itself available, I installed it. Now, I am re-installing and was wondering if I should do the SP1 first and then any Critical Updates. In other words, I am wondering if I would eliminate any of the independent updates because they are built into the SP1.

Also, I am using XP Professional. Typically, I do not install IIS, but I think I'd like to this time. Should I install IIS before performing any updating/SP1? Are there any updates for IIS in SP1? Does really matter?

Critical updates are built into SP1, so you should install that first.

Don't know about IIS, since I don't use it, but I think SP1 updates that, too. It can't hurt to install IIS before updating, though you might want to make sure IIS is disabled if you have to be online to perform the download.

Yeah, there isn't much to go upon. I guess I will go look for a separate IIS SP on their website. Actually, I do not think this should be necessary, because the last time I ran the SP1 and then ran the Windows Update is showed a Critical Update for IIS regarding Java, I think.
