How good is IE7, so far?

I may switch back to it, but when I downloaded it before the summer, it was still way in development.

Doesn't make a difference to me. I feel safe, so I'll keep using Firefox. You go ahead and use Opera. Why can't people just stfu about this browser war? WHO THE FSCK CARES?

 I like mouse gestures, great for browsing. I like Opera too, it doesn't make much difference to me.

I've used both, and there were minor issues that kept me from using Opera. Mainly the lack of about:config, the fact that it used to have advertisements, and it seems a little too "bloated" in terms of built in features. At least with Firefox I can use extensions to choose what features I want. There are upsides and downsides, obviously.

Overall; they're both great browsers and you just have to use what you like.

in opera, there's no about:config but rather opera:config and it doesn't seem bloated. it may not be as lean as FF, but it certainly has better memory usage. and you can't beat mouse gestures.

The memory usage isn't even that bad. Just don't leave it maximized while you're playing games or something.

Use Maxthon, all the joys of tabbed browsing, ad blocking and mouse gestures with IE6.

IE shell, FTL. Why not just use IE7?

Opera is where it's at. I've been using it since it went free and it is easily the best browser I have ever used.

it's nice, but it doesn't have the nice firefox search thing, which kinda sucks.

You mean where it searches Google through the adress bar? I could get used to it, so that's ok.

But is it fairly stable now? When I was using it, the help files weren't even written up, so if you needed something, that would also be a problem (though that's not such a big concern of mine).

It's only a problem if you visit questionable sites (aka porn and warez sites). I've never had and problems with viruses even when I used IE. However I now use firefox because I like the tabs and the extentions. I will continue to use FF until someone comes out with something better.

He is referring to FF's search within pages. It's far superior to IEs. That's another feature that I could no longer live without.

i do belive it's stable. haven't tried it but have heard good things about it. one quick question for all you FF users, can you add custom address bar search engines? for example, in opera you do:
g whatever
in the address bar and it will go a google search for whatever. there's also ebay, amazon, and several other already installed. you can also add you own. can you do this in FF?

you can add any search engine you want to the search bar at the right.

Oh yea, that's one reason I keep coming back to FF. How could I forget.

/smacks head

Seriously, it's the best approach I've seen so far (though I've only used a couple of browsers).
