Criterion gives the Back to the Future Delorean company for Burnout Paradise

Link - Criterion announced the rest of the car roster for the upcoming Legendary Car DLC pack (the first they are going to charge for). Apparently "Legendary" means all cars from the 80s. 😉

We've got:
* The Manhattan Spirit - aka Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters
* The Carson Nighthawk - aka KITT
* The Cavalry Bootlegger - aka The General Lee but rebranded with the Mexican Flag and colors instead of the very unpoliticially correct Confederate Flag.

these join the previously announced 88 Special - aka Back to the Future Delorean.

I think Criterion is shooting for the "Best DLC of the generation" award.

They are coming up with some great DLC, I just can't get into the game.

I thought the same way as you. I shelved the game for months. Then about a month ago I popped it in and it added bikes and a whole bunch of other stuff and now I cant put it down. Give it another shot. Its really a great game!

I wish I could get this game for $15, only way I can convince myself to buy a new game right now 🙁

That's just fucking stupid.

Why not at least put the US flag or just make up a damn flag.. Skull and crossbones or something else that makes even a tiny bit of sense.

edit: I realize whats stupider is the threat of lawsuits rather than the, admittedly, wise decision to avoid the issue. But still.. This is just fucking stupid :|

Same here. I picked it up used recently and tried to like it, but I just couldn't get into it.

Wanna sell it for $15 shipped? Or how much did you get it for?

On the video podcast they said the Bootlegger looks good in orange, so I'm sure it'll look enough like the General Lee.

Yep. I hate crap like this. If you need to change something to make it PC, don't have it available. The General Lee has a Confederate Flag. That's just the way it is, like it or not. Maybe they should take away all the weapons in Halo and give everyone walkie-talkies instead.

Queasy's the one that made the comment about it being for political correctness, not Criterion (who said they made the car for a fan that lives in Mexico). Wouldn't surprise me if it was for licensing reasons more than anything though.

Probably a mix of both. It's like in WW2 games where the swastikas are removed from German military vehicles. IIRC though, the General Lee did have the stars and bars on it in the recent movie. If Hollywood suits allow it, then it probably is a licensing issue. The car in Burnout is basically just a white Charger, and it's said to be a tribute to a Mexican fan of the game right in the article.
