Dang it! And I just finished my Overwatch benchmarks with the 16.4.2.

Oh well neither this game is mentioned or the 7950 which I benchmarked, so I guess I'm good!

No change in eth mining. 16.2.1 still faster.

I'm mining on qtminer 280x with --cl-global-work 8192 and my performance is exactly the same as 16.2.1! No drop in performance 19.8-20MH/s on both drivers.

So tempted to upgrade...but not having too many issues besides Dirt Rally (but that may just be game related).

Its a full release, just not WHQL so they call it "hotfix" or "beta" or w/e else so people don't go nuts.

Working great for me, Forza is pretty fun and hard when you turn off all the AI assists.

So tempted to upgrade...but not having too many issues besides Dirt Rally (but that may just be game related).

Not sure if you've heard of this "fix", but for me, at least on 16.3.2, Dirt Rally works with Crossfire on and in Fullscreen if I run the benchmark before starting any races. After that, the game will be fine til you exit and launch again. Some random person on the forum recommended it and it worked.

I disabled XFire because I read it was borked. My problem is mainly the Error 41 issue. I get kicked to the desktop pretty randomly with that error. It's annoying as heck because if you're in one of those daily challenges when it happens, you can't restart it.

I would get a driver crash on everything up until, funny enough, this release. I was just going to record the crash and the little trick I was using the bypass it and post a link here, but the game now works w/out me having to go through the benchmark now.

Anyway, no crashes here for me with r9 290 and 290x in Crossfire it seems. Tried three times. Hopefully it sticks. Error 41 is a random thing? Sounds worse than what I was experiencing.

What's your question? Generally larger number denotes newer code. One is beta the other is whql.

So 16.5.1 is Beta and 16.3.2 isn't ? And software just advises me to upgrade(downgrade) to last stable version (16.3.2),correct ?

During install it asks if you want to auto upgrade drivers, every time it asks that choose no or uncheck. Depending on your take/viewpoint, ignore it or downgrade...


That said generally you wanna be on the newest driver, especially if you want to play the latest dx12 games like the free ones MS is giving in the store like Forza 6 Apex which requires 16.5.1. lol, that was one run on sentence.
