Criminal gets jail term reduced to avoid deportation

...and people wonder what's wrong with the country.

Last I heard, being here was a privelage, not a right, for non-citizens, yet a judge bends over backwards to shorten a sentence so a CRIMINAL can remain in this country. So, not only does he not pay his total debt to society, it is done to let him stay here... a privelage which he abused in the first place.

I wish I still lived in State College so I could do something about this "Judge".

Story

convicted of illegally entering more than a dozen Penn State dorm rooms

what was he doing? why did he go in these rooms? is he an idiot? or a burglar? or a rapist?
did he get lost ? 😕

I think the original charge had to do with entering the rooms at night while females we asleep. He was accused of getting in bed with them, and in some cases fondling them before he left.

If I remember correctly, he plead guilty to the lesser charge of just entering the rooms...

I'd have to hear more about the specifics of the case. However, the INS and the State courts are completely seperate entities under completely seperate jurisdictions. The state court judge might have had a good reason for not wanting him deported. Committing a crime does not and in my opinion should not automatically = deportation except for really serious crimes.

EDIT: if that info about the details of the case are true, then I definately agree this falls into the category of serious crime in my own moral world not related in any way to the legal system.

Found an article...

"The 22-year-old Penn State student accused of entering the dorm rooms of 12 women and indecently assaulting six of the women last September pleaded guilty yesterday to 12 counts of criminal trespass and six counts of indecent assault."

Judging by his name, he may have thought that there were Honda parts in the rooms.

...And another (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

PPG

"Witnesses told of episode after episode of Troung pushing open unlocked dormitory doors, sometimes inexplicably asking, "Where's Mike?" and departing, sometimes climbing on victims and groping them as they slept.

One witness, who recalled Troung as the newcomer who used to open doors for her, recounted how she awoke to find him in bed with her, trying to take off her shorts.

"He yelled, 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry,' and ran out of the room," she said.

Another victim told of waking to find a man atop her, kissing her, pulling off her clothes and then, when he was pushed away, asking, "What about your roommate? Can I sleep with her?"

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette does not reveal the names of possible victims of sexual assault.

Schoolmate Mike Damweber testified of finding Troung passed out on a dormitory room floor, then later boasting, "I got with some girl.""

in that case, he needs to be beaten to a bloody pulp AND deported immedietely

what a scum bag :disgust:

maybe the judge wants him to get the opportunity to be Bubba's B!tch in jail , if he was deported, would he miss all the jail time?

This guy sound like he needs to be in a mental institution rather than jail cell.

This dude sounds like he needs to get laid.

I guess he has no buddies to take him to a strip joint... no strip joints where Penn State is eh?

I am 99% sure he would first have to serve his time, then be deported.

There was one called "The End Zone" for awhile, but I think it burnt down.. however, I think it was there while he was.

Edit:

Hammer09

Huh? A plush mental institution for someone who came as close to rape as you could get? Jail is much better for someone like this... so he can get a taste of sexual assault for himself. An eye for an eye. I would hate to be that Judge when this person gets out and actually follows through with a rape, or commits more of the same acts. I would not like that on my conscience.

This is actually pretty common. There are a lot of 364 day sentences handed out in Houston to aliens.

The prosecutor should have charged him with attempted rape. That would have been an aggravated felony, and he could have been deported on that alone.
