The $35 plan now has 2.5gb of data.
The $45 plan now has 5gb of data.
The $55 plan now is 10gb (20gb for a limited time with lte compatible phone).

Pretty good deal IMO. Just downgraded to the $35 plan saving $10/mo and keeping almost the same amount of data I was getting before.

Only thing that is better than this is harbor mobile (t-mobile reseller).

If you have an existing account, you will get the new data amounts in the next cycle. Or you can downgrade and upgrade back to your same plan (then logout and login) to have the changes immediately. Your bill will be pro-rated.

Those prices are very nice. If my employer wasn't already paying for my phone and bill I'd definitely consider it.

Everyone assumes it was their proxy server being overloaded from too many subscribers. Lasted for about a month until it was fixed.

LTE is throttled to 8 Mbps, otherwise no difference.

So with LTE you get the latency, but with 8mbps down that would mean what for streaming Netflix? My understanding is HD video only takes 4-5mbps, so this should be perfectly fine for it, yes? I know music would be fine even with high quality streaming.

Netflix lists 5Mbps for HD stream. Youtube 720p and 1080p streams fine so I assume netflix should too.

Shame that data speeds are capped at 8mbps. I'm on straight talk and consistently pull 11mbps+. Probably not a huge difference though. The $35 plan is nice. Less data (by 500mb) than my ST plan but $120 cheaper a year. Besides I can only remember going over 2.5gb once and that was because I didn't have wifi for an extended period of time and had to get my Top Gear fix in.

When it comes down to it, the cricket plan is actually about $15 less than the ST plan. Cricket includes taxes and fees in their prices. ST does not, so really you're paying about $49~ after taxes and fees.

I have just been testing both Straight Talk and Cricket these past two weeks and I think this new change clinches Cricket as my choice now. I've been on Tmobile and quite satisfied with it, but I am moving my family to another state where AT&T will be better coverage and we are looking to squeeze our budget even more. With the new data caps on Cricket and it's lower cost than Straight Talk, I think it's perfect for my wife and I. I have tested and even with the capped speeds I find it usable. 2.5GB for each of us puts us at $70/month for two lines, a full $40 less than where we were on Tmobile.
