night effects works better. strips are a pain unless u lie down or have dry mouth. i had to lie down for the bottom ones to work without being swamped.

I'd rather stick with brushing instead of wasting $30 or $40 dollars on bleach strips...

brushing works for surface stains only

One of those packs are intended for an individual over a period of time... correct ? Would it work if 2 people split it ? I never got to read the packaging.

Wow, you are just too witty.

Crest Whitestrip's ingrediants

Purified water, Glycerin, Hydrogen Peroxide, Carbopol 956, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate,Sodium Stannate, Sodium Saccharin.

Oh, okay. Did you happen to see on the ingredient page you link to - where they say that whitestrips are enamel safe?

hydrogen peroxide
It is used as a bleaching agent for textiles, e.g., wool and silk, and in paper manufacture.

Indeed it is, however, the word bleach, as a noun - as you used in your first post - commonly refers to sodium hypochlorite or calcium hypochlorite. I differentiated the two chemicals in my response, but you apparently have chosen to ignore this.

Sodium Hydroxide

I don't recall you mentioning this ingredient in your first post, so it's really quite disingenuous to add it now. I don't see that you've done any reading on NaOH and its uses in whitening, just that you've posted some irrelevant data. Your MSDS refers to industrial strength concentrations, not the concentrations in whitening compound. Cheerios contain Trisodium Phosphate, and you don't see people keeling over from that.

Just because you are so old that you remember when diet pills had tapeworms in them and teeth whiteners eroded teeth does not mean that scientific progress stopped when you hit middle age.

Why don't you see what the American Dental Association has to say about tooth whiteners:
Other ingredients of peroxide-containing tooth whiteners may include glycerin, carbopol, sodium hydroxide and flavoring agents. ... Dentists and consumers have long recognized the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance as an important symbol of a dental product's safety and effectiveness....
Now if you look, you will see that the ADA doesn't approve home kits, as they feel professional consultation is required to meet their guidelines. That doesn't change the fact that the same ingredients are used in ADA approved "professional" kits versus your home kit.

You really should think before you speak, this is how you make yourself look foolish.

Speaking of Cheerios, who pissed in yours? I have no problem admitting when I am mistaken, but in this case it is obviously you who felt the need to reply before thinking.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying it really sounds like you know your stuff.

I also have used White Strips, had no sensitivity problems whatsoever, and over 8 months later my teeth are still noticibly whiter than they were before the strips. I recommend them.

I wouldn't 😀

I have no in depth knowledge of chemistry, whiteners, or a lot of other things, just some mild education, common sense, the ability to use google, and the ability to quickly escalate testiness when I sense it directed at me 🙂

RH: the packs are split into top and bottom strips - they are cut to shape/size. You could certainly share strips, but that will just mean you end up buying another box and sharing that one too (you are supposed to use them twice a day)
