My credit score was 790 on a scale of 300-900 (Canada) till recently. And, it raised a red flag when I tried to get a pre approve mortgage at my bank. I'm still hunting for the best mortgage rate that I can get, but I feels that the low credit score may hampers my chance.

My credit score drops considerably due to the bank screw up a few months back.

Last fall I paid off the remaining balance on my student loan, and the bank made a mistake of not factored in 1 day of interest, therefore I owe them a small amount. 6 months later I got a letter from the bank saying that my account is in receivership for $2.68 (total included 6 month interest). I didn't bother to fight the charge and pay them the full amount, however they refused to remove the error that affected my credit score.

Would I bring my credit card score backup quicker if I have more than 1 credit cards?

Currently I have 2 credit cards (total combine limit of 34K). The bank that I have a saving account called 2 weeks a go to offer me a credit card with a limit of 9K, and the bank that I have my stock in called yesterday offering to give me a credit card with a limit of 12K.
