Credit ratings: what is the maximum score?

What is the highest score on a credit rating?
I had my credit checked for a first time mortage and am just wondering what my # is out of?

what does it matter if you have 700+ you good for almost anything. 750+ and banks kiss your ass to give you a loan (seen it happen).
