Credit Question: Adding my wife as a responsible party on my credit card - any drawbacks?

I'm recently married. My wife and I each have one individual credit card. What is the best course of action so we can build stronger credit? Should we each add one another to our cards as a responsible party? FYI...both of us have strong credit with zero credit card debt.

I put my wife as a joint cardholder on my CC because she doesn't have a credit history. Afterwards, her credit score increased because she now has a longer credit history with no late payments.

Cool. So what happens when two people, having two separate credit histories, merge?

if she has her own credit card why bother giving her yours ?
I doubt history merges, I think future entries will go to both credit reports.
