Here's the story...I want to make it as simple as possible.
1. There was a balance of $30 on my credit account (limit well over $10k).
2. Invoices never given to me.
3. Creditor calls me about the charge, and I tell them that I had no idea (Netflix which I cancelled...they agreed to charge back my account).
4. They patch me to the dispute department "to take care of it", and I get sent to this taped message to send in a letter of dispute.
5. I send in the letter of dispute and talk to the "collectors".
6. Creditor cancels my account without prior notice.
7. I call the collector and they said that nothing shoud have happened to my account since it was taken care of.
8. The creditor responds "It's on your permanent record for 7 years as collections. You may reapply if you want."
9. I got screwed.
Is there anything I can do? My credit history has been flawless. I just purchased a car at 1.9APR with no co-signer. I've been carrying a $0 balance on pretty much all my credit cards. The cards that I did use, I paid them off immediately.
Also, how bad will this look on my credit report?
Thanks.
