credit cards in foreign countries?

When I use my credit card overseas, I know Citicard uses a set exchange rate from the day before but I don't know if they charge any extra fees b/c it is international. Does anyone have any info about this?

Yes most cards or banks will charge 2% on top of 1% charged by VISA and Mastercard. AMEX is 2%. But if you get an MBNA card they will only charge the flat 1% that VISA and MASTERCARD charge. No additional fees from MBNA itself.

FLEET or Bank of America will charge flat $5.00 fee to withdraw cash from a foreign ATM using their ATM card

Bank of America will also issue travellers cheques for free if you have a premium account with them.

If you are planning on travelling outside US make sure that you call your credit card companies before hand otherwise they might reject charges from merchants outside of US.

I used a Visa card it was no charge for purchaces they made the conversions, but to withdraw money out of the ATMs there is a charge and I believe it depends on your CC company mine was a student creadit so they charged me $3 per transaction i think.
I hate credit card by the way they are evil.

Citibank, like every other issuer out there besides MBNA, charges 2% extra on top of the 1% from Mastercard, which is folded into the exchange rate to make it harder to notice. However, with the 2% cashback I'm getting from my card, it'll be just as good as MBNA so I don't really mind.
