Currently I am using a BP / Amoco card. My pal tonight told me I should get a regular credit card, and use that ONLY for gas, and ditch the amoco card.
What this will do is allow me to fill up anywhere, and not be constricted to amoco.

Anyone else do this?
What type of card do you recommend?

Case Perfect, 6% off gas for first 90 days, 3% off after that. 1% off all other purchases.

$19 annual fee**

I think I'll pass, mmmkay...you'd have to spend over $600/year in gas just to make up that annual fee.

Check the ** :)

** No Annual Fee the first year the account is open. $19 Annual Fee thereafter, but the fee is waived if 9 purchases are made in the prior year.

shell no longer has a partnership wtih chase. it is now with citibank.

the chase freedom card and chase perfect card are basically IDENTICAL, except they have a different name. the freedom card is no longer available and now replaced with the perfect card.

Another vote of praise for the Chase Freedom Card which I love.

If your purchase limit is $2,000 most likely your balance transfer limit will be double that $4,000

6% on gas purchases for the first 90 days
3% on gas purchases after that
1% cash rebate on all non-gas purchases
Annual fee waived the first year and every year after that if you make 9 purchases in that year.

FREE VISA Warranty Manager extended warranty benefits

gizbug,

Do you plan on using your credit card at least 9 times a year?

How do you get the rebate?
Do they give it back to you automatically?

I also have the Chase PerfectCard, and I like it a lot..after one month of charges, I rolled up $7.70 in rebates..we will see how I go about reclaiming them (I think on the next bill?) We will see. And yeah, I used over 9 purchases in that first month, hehe..

The rebate is credited to your account on every statement.

This sounds like a sweet card. Are there any canadian equivalents? Probably not :( at least my new visa card is only 11.9% interest so that's not half bad.

I don't think you have to be an AAA member to get their gas rebate credit card.
