Credit Card Question

If I change my credit card number via my provider, then anyone that has that information stored will no longer work right? So if I tried to use the card via paypal or something, it wouldn't work, correct?

I know that recurring cards would still work. But I've canceled all of those.

Once the card is changed it should not work at all. My CC got stolen when my college database got hacked. I just got a new card and never had a problem with the old one again.
