What is the difference between these two ? add on user or authorised user
Are they the same ?

Actually I added my brother on my card as a user without giving the social. He is a student and has fresh credit. Would adding him on my card benefit him ? I get just one credit card bill so is his credit getting build at all. If not what should I do so that his credit gets built ?
 
Not touching his if you didn't give them a SSN... how would it?

You could open a "joint account" that relies on both parties credit if he needs it. But there are student programs already. If he has "fresh credit" and is a student, he shouldn't need you.
