I just signed up and used the amazon.com card to order an ibook. It says 0% apr for 6 months on purchases and balance transfers.

So basically its like an interest free 6 month loan? As long as I pay it off before then, there will be no finance charges?

Just checking, I could pay it off right away, but I might as well get interest on that money for 6 months

That's right, interest-free loan for 6 months.

You might have to make monthly payments, but it's certainly not a bad deal.

excellent, when all is said and done i should have gotten the ibook for $716-736 after i sell the free printer and I just earned a $25 gift certificate. so potentially less than $700 for the new 1.2g ibook

Yes that is correct as long as your account is in "good standing" (make all your payments ON TIME).

yup. love those 0.0%apr offers. currently riding one until April '05, then I'll probably get another offer around that time.

I did just get one in the mail though for 0.0% on bal transfers and purchases until Jan. '06. Probably won't take that one though.

... and see what it is for after 6 months if it isn't paid off and also see if there is a "transfer fee".

In other words, make sure you read the fine print.
